Concordia University Irvine: Beach Volleyball
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Brianna, but most people call me “Brie”, and I live in Park City, UT.  I am Utah's first high school athlete to train and play beach volleyball only year round. As of my junior year I complete all my high school courses though an online high school so I can travel and train beach volleyball throughout the year and outside of Utah.  Because I was the first high school athlete to play beach year round I started playing Women's beach leagues at an indoor beach facility starting my Sophomore year. I will be graduating early in December of 2019 and plan to move to California to train and play beach volleyball before starting college in fall of 2020.
My first indoor volleyball camp was when I was only four years old and still living in Connecticut. Of course at that time I didn’t understand volleyball at all and I only wanted to play basketball. Years later, after we had moved to Utah, my Mom signed me up to play for the local Rec team. This time around I fell in love with volleyball the second I got on the court.  As my love for volleyball grew, I began to become passionate about beach volleyball. I’ve been playing beach since 2014.
The summer of 2018 I earned the following national beach championship bids: AAU Beach Jr Olympics in U16 (1 bid earned) and U18 (2 bids earned), AVP First Nationals in U16, and USAV Nationals in U16.
In the past I have been awarded 2017 "Utah Outstanding Performance in Beach Volleyball", 2017 Utah AAU Beach Points Champion U16 division, first place 2017 AVP First National Qualifier U16 (earned a bid to AVP First Championships), third place 2017 AAU St. George Opener U16 (earned a bid to AAU Beach Jr Olympics), first place 2017 Utah Grand Prix U15 Open and a bid to AAU Nationals, first place Utah State Beach Championships U14 summer 2016, first place AVP First U14 in Utah summer of 2016, recognized as one of the Utah State Beach Volleyball Player of the Year 2016, and returned from the AAU Beach Volleyball Junior Olympics in Hermosa Beach, CA as the highest ranking Utah U14 athlete.
I have played for Club GSL 16-Sue (16-1) as DS.  Previous USAV Travel teams were: Club GSL 15-1 (Libero/DS), Club V 14-2 (OH/Libero), Club V 13-1 (OH/DS).
I was originally a tennis player and took lessons from age 4-10.  I had an early love of basketball and played in recreation leagues as well as soccer leagues when I was younger.  I participated in the "Girls on the Run" program & 5K run when I was in fifth grade and spring of 2017 I was a Junior Coach for the "Girls on the Run" program.
Other than volleyball I love to SUP, play tennis, and ski. While in college I would like to pursue a degree in marketing/sports marketing.  Some possible career options I'm considering:  Sports event manager/director of promotions, charity/non-profit sports marketing, or recruiter/scout.
