Fall beach training & looking forward to Club season

This fall I decided to continue with my beach volleyball training rather than play high school volleyball.  While my high school has a good team, we also play in a very small and non-competitive conference and I believe that I get better indoor training from my club where we play against stronger teams.  Plus, I really want to play beach volleyball in college so I decided to keep playing as much beach as I can this year since my season in Utah isn't as long as the seasons in California, Texas, Arizona, or Florida.

Because most athletes in Utah are focused on their indoor high school teams I had to switch up a bit of my training and tournaments.  I started playing a ton of Co-Ed beach tournaments with a guy I met through Wasatch Beach.  Drew just turned 15 and this was his first year playing beach volleyball.  We seem to play really well together.  We played a couple beach tournaments and also a couple grass Co-Ed 2v2 tournaments.  I had so much fun!  We ended up taking FIRST PLACE in the Co-Ed B division at the Wasatch Beach Season Finale.   We were the ONLY teens playing in the tournament and had to go up against some really tall adults/men!

Then I decided to play in the Wasatch Beach Queen of the Beach tournament in the A division.  I was tied for first place at the end of pools so we had to have a playoff set to 15.  I was soooo close to winning but the final score was 14-16 so I ended up taking 2nd place in the tournament.  There was one girl who was 19 but the others were mid 20's, and all were very accomplished players.  I was so happy with my performance and all the ladies I played with were so nice and said they'd love to play with me again.

Wasatch Beach decided to start a Fall Training program (this is the first season they will be doing this).  I will train with them until mid-October and will also be playing in the Women's A division Queen of the Beach League starting this Tuesday night.  The QoB League runs until late October and then I have indoor club tryouts the first week of November.

I'm hoping the weather holds up for beach training and QoB League.  We've already had to reschedule a beach training last Friday due to the weather.  But that was ok because at the same time as my training was the University of Utah game, so since I didn't go to training I was able to go watch 3 of my former coaches and current Utes:  Berkeley Oblad, Torre Glasker, and Dani Barton.

THE UTES WON!

So let's hope the weather holds up so I can keep playing beach volleyball.  I was planning to go to the beach volleyball courts in town today, but..........

Until next time- Pray for Sand~ Brie

* Update:  There were not enough athletes registered for the Women's A Queen of the Beach League.  I will continue with Fall Training Clinics and will now be playing in the "Get Noticed Beach" College Recruiting Showcase in Santa Monica, CA on Sunday Sept. 22nd.  I will be playing "up" in U18 division as my partner is class of 2019.
